Cargèse Summer School, July 9 to July 19, 2021

Practical Information

The Institute will be held at the Institut d'Etudes Scientifiques de Cargèse (Corsica). The lectures and seminars will take place from Tuesday May 25, 9am till Friday June 4, 6pm. Participants must arrive on Monday May 24th and stay for the whole duration of the Institute. Departure will take place on June 5th.

The most convenient way to get to Cargese is by airplane to Ajaccio airport, via Paris, Marseille or Nice. There is a convenient Air France flight from Paris (Orly airport) leaving on May 24 at 00:00(to be announced) and arriving in Ajaccio at 00:00(to be announced).

A coach will pick up the participants on Monday 15 evening and bring them to Cargèse, where they will be directed to their housing. The same coach will be available for those arriving earlier, for instance by boat (the airport is not very far form the harbour). We strongly encourage particpants to chose this solution.

For those who cannot make it for this schedule, please, let us know and a solution will be proposed for your local transporation from Ajaccio to Cargese. The departure from Cargese to Ajaccio will be organised on Saturday June 27 morning in time to reach the early afternoon flights in Ajaccio airport.

Caution: International flights usually arrive to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (north of Paris). It is possible to reach Orly airport from CDG in about 1h 30 by taking the RER B line south to Antony, and using the Orlyval shuttle from Antony RER station to Orly. Alternatively, there are buses going directly from CDG to Orly, but commute time varies upon traffic.

The Institute is located a short 2 km walk south of the village, on the sea shore. The institute manages a number of apartments in the village, as well as shared and single rooms on site. The registration fee includes breakfast, lunch and accommodation on the basis of a shared room at the institute or in one of the apartments in the village. Single rooms are available for an extra fee of 120 Euros. Participants who prefer to stay in one of the hotels in the village should contact the organizers. Please note that the accommodation cannot be extended before or after the dates of the Institute.

Breakfasts are served at the Institute for people staying on the ground of the Institute. People staying in the village will get vouchers to get breakfast in local cafés. Vegeterian people should specify their preference at the time of registration. Accompanying persons may take lunches at the Institute at an additional 10 Euros per meal. For dinner, there are several reasonably-priced restaurants in the village.

The conference room is equipped with blackboards, overhead and video projectors. There is a wifi network. In addition, there are a number of ports to connect laptops. A small library offers reference books for local reading.

The application deadline is March 1st, 2021. Accepted participants are expected to pay a registration fee of 1000 Euros, which includes half-board and accommodation on the basis of a shared room (660 Euros), as well as organisational costs (340 Euros). The former part will be paid directly to the Institute during the institute, whereas the latter part must be paid by bank transfer before the school.
